What are Veneers?
Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain cemented over the front of teeth to adjust their color and shape. They are a great option for correcting stained, chipped, decayed, or crooked teeth.
Coupled with other cosmetic treatments, veneers can even be used to enlarge the appearance of your teeth and improve your smile!
After measurements and a model of your current teeth are made at Mangat Dental Center in San Jose, veneers are made by a dental technician in a dental lab. Dr. Mangat will go over the possible veneers shades to ensure your new smile looks as natural as possible. Placing veneers is usually irreversible as it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your tooth to accommodate the veneer shell.
What are the benefits of Veneers?
Veneers are a great option for patients seeking to improve or restore their smile. Porcelain veneers have a natural appearance while masking undesirable defects, such as badly stained, crooked, and poorly shaped teeth. Veneers also have a longer life expectancy than bonding and are highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee or tobacco.
Having veneers placed is also a convenient process. Little to no anesthesia is necessary and the entire treatment can be completed in two to three visits.
How long do Veneers take?
Typically, veneers entail at least two to three visits. On the first visit, Dr. Mangat will diagnose and plan out your treatment. On your next visit(s), the teeth are prepared and bonding occurs. Diagnosis and planning takes about one to two hours, while the actual prep and bonding takes an additional one to two hours. Mangat Dental Center specializes in delivering exceptional veneers with comfort, quality, and care. Although typical veneers last up to five years, many of our patients are still happy with their veneers almost a decade after treatment!
